Thalapathy MK Stalin appreciated union government’s budget for its benevolent announcements in favor of the poor and the agricultural community. He said, it is not unusual for the poor and the middle class to look up to the budget in order get rid of their poverty and to experience growth during the fiscal year. However, the middle class has been disappointed as there has been no change in the income tax slabs. Thalapathy MK Stalin quoted Thalaivar Kalaignar’s statement that while the average loan of an agricultural family is Rs. 47,000, the average monthly income of the family is just Rs. 6,400. The budget mentions about additional compensation for loss of crops, allotment of Rs. 5,500 crores for crop insurance and about 23 large projects related to agriculture. Other benevolent announcements include allocation of Rs 2.87 lakh-crores for the development of village Panchayats, low cost domestic LPG, one-lakh insurance for senior citizens under poverty line, 3,000 medical shops across the country, and three-year tax concession for startups among others.

Thalapathy also pointed out the expectations of various sections that have been left out of the budget. Some of these include the expectations of small scale industries, exporters, and tax concessions for the middle class among others. Although there are considerable announcements for the poor and the agricultural community, it depends on how the union government will implement all of these announcements. Thalapathy MK Stalin said, “Thalaivar Kalaignar is correct, PM Modi’s government has secured a pass in the exam. However, whether it would secure a centum depends on the implementation of the announcements.”
